The UK roads are a disgrace.The councils are not fit for purpose. The first purpose is to provide the infrastructure for all - safe communication and access: roads, phones, libraries, schools, trains, planes, emptying dustbins regularly, clearing rats, wasps and other dangers to life, police to prevent crime and catching criminals and putting them in prison so they cannot harm others or themselves, rapid ambulance and A & E in every area - all with 24 hours service and instant response, with emphasis on prevention rather than cure. A local councillor told me he would rather give money to help the blind and sick than fill potholes.All that happens is that you neglect potholes and create more injured people.
